Acceptance
By installing, accessing, or using the Kyoto Wallet browser extension ("Kyoto"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the software.
What Kyoto is
Kyoto is a non-custodial browser extension that allows you to send, receive, and manage MobileCoin (MOB), Ethereum (ETH), and ERC-20 tokens. Kyoto is a tool that runs entirely on your device. We never hold, control, or have access to your funds.
Kyoto is non-custodial. Your keys are derived on your device, encrypted on your device, and never transmitted to us. We cannot access, freeze, or recover your funds.
Your responsibilities
- You are solely responsible for securing your PIN and 24-word recovery phrase
- You are responsible for verifying recipient addresses before sending any transaction
- You are responsible for understanding the risks of cryptocurrency before using Kyoto
- You are responsible for complying with all applicable laws and regulations in your jurisdiction
- You must not use Kyoto for any illegal purpose
If you lose your PIN and exhaust all five recovery attempts, access to your wallet is permanently lost. We cannot help. There is no backdoor, no override, and no recovery process. This is by design.
No custody
Kyoto does not custody, store, transmit, or have access to your cryptocurrency at any time. Transactions are constructed and signed locally on your device using keys that exist only in your browser's memory. Signed transactions are submitted directly to the respective blockchain networks (MobileCoin consensus nodes or Ethereum RPC endpoints).
We are not a money transmitter, exchange, or financial institution. We provide software, not financial services.
No financial advice
Kyoto is a tool. Nothing in the software, on this website, or in any communication from the Kyoto team constitutes investment, financial, tax, or legal advice. You should consult qualified professionals before making financial decisions.
Risks
Cryptocurrency involves significant risks. By using Kyoto, you acknowledge and accept:
- Cryptocurrency values are volatile and may lose some or all of their value
- Blockchain transactions are irreversible — sending to the wrong address results in permanent, unrecoverable loss
- Software may contain bugs or vulnerabilities despite our best efforts to prevent them
- MobileCoin Fog infrastructure is operated by the MobileCoin Foundation, not by Kyoto or AntelopeSwap
- Juicebox HSM infrastructure is operated by Juicebox Systems, not by Kyoto or AntelopeSwap
- Ethereum RPC endpoints are operated by third parties and may experience downtime or censorship
- Regulatory changes in your jurisdiction may affect your ability to use cryptocurrency
- Smart contract interactions (dApp connections) carry additional risk including loss of funds from malicious or buggy contracts
